What is Brave Kids? |

Brave Kids is the non-profit organization that helps children with chronic,
life threatening illnesses and disabilities. Approximately 2.5 million children
were admitted to hospitals nationally last year. Brave Kids offers 3 programs:

Bravekids.org

The online community and web resource center for kids with special needs, their
families and healthcare professionals.

Bravekids Resource Centers

The Bravekids.org Resource Center, complete with computers, printers and
resource materials enables parents to locate immediate medical information and
resources for their ill child while they are in the hospital. Volunteers assist
parents with locating information quickly and provide emotional support to
parents.

Outreach and Advocacy
-
Provide targeted outreach and education to the families and caregivers of poor,
uninsured underserved, and minority children with special needs. Outreach
activities will provide critical support, address the importance of care, to
inform as to the availablity of resources and advocate for children with
special needs.

Who founded Brave Kids? |

Kristen Fitzgerald, Executive Director of Brave Kids,
founded the organization on June 9, 1999. Kristen has extensive experience in
marketing and has served various nonprofit organizations. She brings first hand
experience and a personal commitment to this endeavor having lost her own two
children to catastrophic illness. |

Brave Kids was represented by the Tides Center from
November 1999 through June 2001. Brave Kids was incorporated and received its
own 501(c)3 in June 2001. |

Over 2.5 million seriously ill children were admitted to
hospitals nationally last year. Brave Kids serves seriously ill children of all
ages, families, parents, siblings, social workers and anyone else working
closely with children with special needs. |

The Resource Directory portion of Bravekids.org provides

regions through donations: San Francisco, Northern California, Orange County,
Pensacola, Fort Lauderdale, Palm Beach, Tampa Bay Area, Orlando, Ft. Myers,
Sarasota, Naples, Jacksonville, Los Angeles, Washington DC/Baltimore, Seattle,

The Brave Kids Resource Center is
a local program that provides a Resource Center to a pediatric ward of a
hospital or a temporary family housing center. This enables parents to locate medical
information and support immediately while their child is in the hospital.

You can help Brave Kids serve more children with special
needs by offering donations in the form of cash. You may even donate company
stocks. We also rely on technical and non-technical volunteers to keep the
programs running, so contact us if you are interested in volunteering some of
your time to Brave Kids. |
