We follow the Health on the Net Foundation Code of Conduct for medical
and health Web sites. This organization addresses one of Internet's
main healthcare issues: the reliability and credibility of information.
The HONcode is not an award system, nor does it intend to rate the
quality of the information provided by a Web site. It only defines a set
of rules to hold Web site developers to basic ethical standards in the
presentation of information, and to help make sure readers always know
the source and the purpose of the data they are reading.

Brave Kids provides a positive, compassionate alliance to children and parents
who each day face severe debilitating illness and keep going. Each program
sponsored by Brave Kids, whether it is the free computers for ill children,
or the web site information and links to the vast number of available resources
and chat rooms, has the special quality of understanding, support, and
appreciation for the brave children and families who meet the challenge
of life under such difficult conditions.
Hooray for Brave Kids!
Best Regards,
Giovanna Spinella, M.D.

Kira Ciupek (mother of Joy)
wrote the following note after Joy received a computer through the Brave Kids Computer Donation Program.
|
Dear Brave Kids,
When Joy was hospitalized at UCSF for 9 days in February, I was
fortunate to find the Brave Kids Resource Room down the hall.
Sometimes, while Joy received treatments or watched TV in her room, I
would take a few minutes to search the bookshelves and explore Brave
Kids web site. I was so encouraged to find an organization dedicated to
helping families of chronically ill or disabled children!
Since then, we have received a computer from Brave Kids, and our family
has been enjoying the opportunity to communicate with friends by e-mail,
and check out Brave Kids web site!
Thank you, thank you, thank you! You are a blessing to many families in
the Bay area. You are a voice, and a forum for us. Keep up the good
work!
Sincerely,
Kira Ciupek
